Smart Use optimises your inventory so that you have the right products in the right place at the right time. Where a hospital has multiple sites and a more ‘global’ picture of the inventory is required, the Smart Use system is able to provide views of the amount and value of all product lines at each point of use, allowing stock levelling between different locations.

This not only optimises inventory usage hospital-wide in line with operational activities, it also reduces the need for trips to check and replenish stock, cuts down on last minute delivery scheduling, highlights slow moving or unused stock for removal from the supply chain, reduces stock-outs and only provides stock where it is needed according to demand data.

Smart Use software will also make suggestions concerning inventory levelling, i.e., moving excess inventory to areas with higher demand.

Levelling is supported by an automated financial report to reflect accurate budget allocation. Optimum inventory levels can be set at each location based on demand, future budgets and supplier performance.

Recommended changes to reorder levels can be reviewed before being implemented to ensure current reorder levels are responsive to changing demand patterns. This means of automatically highlighting inventory levels at each individual location reduces the need for multiple trips to the storage areas by valuable members of clinical staff to identify, collect and count stock, thereby releasing valuable resources back to patient care.

Inventory visibility at multiple points of use

With the ability to be able to ‘see’ inventory down to specific products at any point of use, Smart Use allows you to manage inventory within a single department, hospital or across unlimited numbers of different locations within an organisation. This flexibility can dramatically cut down on the number of purchase orders being placed with a single supplier.

Although the requisitioning process can be run as often as required, the software will automatically consolidate supplier requisitions for multiple points of use, significantly reducing the cost of the order to payment process.
